Combating Implicit- Unconscious Bias: Strategies to promote Equity, Inclusion and Excellence
This Continuing Legal Education Seminar provides strategies and best practices to combat implicit and Unconscious Bias and improve diversity and inclusion in the legal profession in Texas and beyond. Rooted in principles of Equity, Justice and Civil Rights, these practices will enable and empower attorneys, law forms, corporations, and governmental agencies fully comply with the letter and spirit of the state and federal laws outlawing discrimination. More important this Seminar will enable participants to implement strategies in their workplaces and practices that will promote diversity and inclusion and reduce the barriers and conflicts that hinder underrepresented groups and workplace organizational effectiveness.

Dr. Gregory J. Vincent is a national expert on Civil Rights, Diversity and Inclusion. He has devoted his over thirty career as an Executive, Attorney and tenured Professor to developing and implementing workplace strategies and best practices that promote workplace fairness, equity and access. Vincent currently serves as CEO and Chair of Sigma Pi Phi Inc. “The Boule”, established in 1904 as the first Black Greek Letter Organization and is dedicated to promoting civil rights, education and philanthropy and Senior Counsel for the National Diversity Council. Dr. Vincent is also the Founding Partner of the Wilson Vincent Law Firm and CEO of Vincent Strategies, a global consulting firm. For over 13 years he also served as the Inaugural Vice President of Diversity and Community Engagement at the University of Texas – Austin where he established the most comprehensive unit of its kind in Higher Education and earned numerous awards for excellence and innovation. He also held the W.K. Kellogg Professorship and was a Professor in the College of Education and School of Law. He has also served as president of his undergraduate Alma Mater and taught at several other major research institutions and served as Assistant Ohio Attorney General for Civil Rights .He earned his Doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania, his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and a Bachelors Degree in History and Economics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
Strategies to Combat Employment Discrimination in the Workplace
This course will provide proactive strategies to facilitate compliance with local, state, and federal anti-discrimination laws including Title VII, Equal Pay, Title IX and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Appropriate for both in-house or outside counsel, this seminar will provide tips on best practices and useful examples on how to avoid litigation, and if necessary, how to defend and represent your clients. At the completion of the course participants should be able to provide sound advice to help their clients establish workplaces free of discrimination. More importantly, the strategies will help organizations in their efforts to establish healthy work environments, improve company culture, and recruit the best 21st century talent.
